What are Teasles?

teasle:
1. a design created with lines, often with repeating patterns
2. a technique or system of drawing that uses designs or patterns
3. a creative right brain process that induces a state of mind that relaxes, inspires, stimulates and encourages creative thought
4. an innovative technique that is helpful for producing "aha!" moments when new ideas spring to mind

Teasles are patterns and designs created with the use of repeating patterns.

Artists and calligraphers, designers and illustrators, architects and craftsmen, and countless others have used designs and patterns such as these for centuries.

They can be used in any number of ways and the patterns are only limited by your imagination.

Teasles can be used for intricate work or they can simply be doodles that you do for the pleasure of it.

Deliberately using patterns and designs such as these has a secondary benefit - that of using your right brain. In that process you will notice that your left brain, the one that usually natters away at you, will become much quieter. Which is why playing with teasles can be a great way to unwind and relax when you're feeling stressed about things.

Getting yourself unwound and relaxed can also make way for a new lease on creativity. And that isn't just referring to the drawing and designing you will do, it may well create those "aha" moments about things totally unrelated to your drawing.
