 4-3    DO-IT-YOURSELF

There is the option of doing your own website. The question you need to ask yourself upfront is whether or not you have the time to give to all that you would need to learn to do that. And are you good at learning on your own?

But let's say that you can learn well on your own, that you have the time, and that you want to give this a try.

As I said early on, I learned to design websites by learning the HTML coding that creates the websites. So you can get books at your local bookstores - the two I started out with are "Creating Web Pages for Dummies" and "HTML Goodies, Second Edition". There may well be more up-to-date books out there by now, but go see what's available.

You can also learn HTML coding online. One website that I use now and again is the web version of HTML Goodies. I'm sure there are numerous other websites that can help you as well.

There are also many programs available now that will help you to design your own website. But since I don't use any of them, I really don't feel that I can recommend any in particular.

The only two I will mention are these:
    • Hypermart, as that is the company I use for hosting and I have found them good to work with, and reasonably priced.
    • Bravenet, as I have used a number of their website add-ons and have found them good.

However, as I have not used them personally for designing websites, I can't endorse them beyond just using the companies that provide them.

So, if you want to give that a try, that's where I would suggest starting.
