Planning Your Website

Are you looking for:

  • a website for a small business, an artist, an organization
  • a visually well-designed site
  • a website that is easy to navigate so viewers don't get frustrated and leave
  • a website with content that will answer the questions your potential clients come looking for
  • a webdesigner who is easy to work with
  • a webdesigner who will not only respect your input, but will ask for it
  • a reasonably priced website
  • a website you will be pleased with
Then you've come to the right place.

Here's how this works:

You think about what you want in a website. At this point that doesn't have to be very detailed - just some general ideas to give me a place to start from. Take a look at my portfolio of other websites I've done to get some ideas of what can be done and what you might like for your website. Or go online to find something that would give me an idea of what you like.

Then, contact me by phone (403-981-5910) or by e-mail.

Tell me what you think you might be looking for in a website. And if you're not even sure of that, then we can start by me asking you about your business or project, and I'll suggest ideas to consider.

Once you are happy with what we decide (and you're always welcome to take some time to think things over first), then we'll discuss a price. To give you some idea to work with, a very basic 4-page website (usually a home page, a contact page, an about page, and an information page) starts at $400. Domain registration and hosting are extra.

When you are ready to go ahead, we'll start by choosing and registering a domain name (that's the name people type in as your website address).

Then we'll get together the information, graphics, color choices, etc. I'll do a rough draft and then get your feedback on it. I do try to create something that you will be happy with and that will do the job you want it to do, so we'll work together to make it right for you.

Once you have what you want, then we will get the website hosted - which means we put it online where others can access it.

And that's about all there is to it. See - it's not so very hard, is it?

If you want to think this through more thoroughly, here's something to check out.

Sometime ago I developed a website called the Webplanner Dashboard. It provides a good basic understanding of what to consider when planning a website. I invite you to explore it here:

Even if you already have a website, you may find some of this information helpful in upgrading your website design or information.

It may also help you to decide if you want to put that much time and effort into planning your website, or whether it might not be easier, faster - and in the long run, cheaper, to get someone else to do the website for you.
