ABOUT EVELYN
It all began in grade two. I drew a sunflower in my little art scribbler and my teacher, bless her heart, praised it highly and told me I was an artist. I proceeded to fill almost all the rest of the scribbler with all sizes and colors of sunflowers. In hindsight it was a little much - but I have also known ever since that I am an artist.

I've always enjoyed variety, so I have explored a wide variety of art forms - some of which can be seen on the Gallery page.

I am primarily a self-taught artist, although I have always enjoyed the opportunity to learn from other artists - usually through art clubs or art classes.

I thoroughly enjoy the company of artistic creative people - whether through guilds or clubs, through the arts classes that I teach, or wherever I happen to meet them.

In 2008 when I decided to go after my dream of creating an arts and business village I call Willowrose Village, I began that summer by exploring a way of creating an arts organization to promote the arts in Cochrane. That became Arts Cochrane.

When Roy's health took an unexpected turn for the worse late that year, I turned Arts Cochrane over to the team that had joined me. I am very proud of Maxine Herbert who took over as head, and the rest of the team, who have done an amazing job since. Arts Cochrane became a foundation, now known as the Arts and Culture Foundation of Cochrane.
